A New Vision Awaits
The magic and dangers of Apple’s Vision Pro headset
The Bait
On June 5th, Apple announced a long-expected, hugely-hyped, insanely-slick new computer. No, seriously. You might have missed the announcement because it got buried under other an avalanche of other announcements from Apple.
I’ll share what I know.
This new computer is packed with remarkable, state-of-the-art tech that we’ve never seen from a personal computer before:
- It’s got multiple, hi-res monitors featuring a custom micro‑OLED display system
- It features Apple’s best-ever audio system
- It has LIDAR and infrared scanners (!!!)
- It’s got a wide array of brand-new sensors that Apple developed specifically for this computer, allowing it to know where you are geographically AND in three-dimensional space
- And, because it’s Apple, the company did something they’re famous for: they pioneered a new way to interact with this computer that’s never been done previously
Unlike the iPhone or Watch, this new computer is too big to fit onto your wrist or pocket. Unlike an iMac, it won’t work when placed on your desk. Unlike your Macbook Air, it won’t work when placed in your lap.
