Love your work, but no. And no for the reasons that you've outlined. Having read the company's ToS and Privacy Policy pages (which EVERYONE should do), there is NO way - none - that I'd ever recommend this to any consumer.

I'd buy one - it looks like a fucking SWEET piece of hardware! - but only if my purchase meant it came with none of the ads, tracking, or creepy sale of data shit.
